Following on from the release of the countryman to the mini family, Mini has hinted that it plans to make their smallest Mini to date in the famous John Cooper Works Model which will come under the name of the Mini Rocketman. The familiar Mini design will still be prominent but there will be small changes. The new Mini Rocketman will be less than 3 metres long making it the smallest of the new Mini range but there should be room for four inside along with a decent boot size. The New Mini should be fitted with BMW 1.5 litre turbocharged engine currently being developed which will deliver close to 150 bhp but efficiency is the key, and should be capable of achieving 50mpg while only producing 110g/km of C02 emissions thanks to tweaks such as stop/start, brake energy regeneration and an aerodynamic design from the BMW Efficient Dynamics. The new Mini Rocketman should have good straight line acceleration achieving 0-62mph in a little over 7 seconds and with a shorter wheel base and stiffer springs will ensure the new Mini Rocketman will be fun to drive. The Mini One, Cooper and Cooper S versions are due in 2012 but John Cooper Works should follow the year after.
