The Ford Focus ST oozes good looks and power with its 2.0 litre Turbocharged Eco Boost engine which packs 247bhp. The Focus ST is the first model developed under Fords new global Performance team which have fitted the new focus with the new direct-injection EcoBoost engine. The 2.0 litre engine which replaces the old 2.5-litre five-cylinder unit not only produces more power and torque, but it is also manages to be 25% more efficient. Ford are keeping the performance figures of the new ST close to there chest. The Focus will deliver 40bhp more than the Volkswagen Golf, but the Ford Focus will deliver roughly the same power output as the Renault Mégane 250. Early suggestions say that it will cover 0-60mph in less than six seconds, but limited to a top speed of 155mph. The Focus ST Sports suspension comes with a clever traction control system that features torque vectoring, which ensures all the power reaches the road. The Ford Focus ST features a six-speed manual gearbox, which should return around 35mpg while emitting 180g/km of CO2 emissions. The Focus ST power is backed up by its impressive looks, the front of the Focus is dominated by its mesh grille, while the body kit features low flared sills, roof spoiler and a low rear bumper which allows the twin exhaust system to exit through the centre of the rear bumper. One colour revealed at the Paris motor show was a bright orange colour called Tangerine Scream which is likely to be an option when the ST goes on sale. Sales of the old 3 door Focus ST were very very slow so Ford have taken the decision to only build a 5 door version with the possibilities of an estate too follow the five-door for the first time. The interior of the sporty Focus features coloured sports seats, carbon fibre and finished off with a piano black trim. The new Ford Focus goes on sale this year, but the Focus ST wont make an appearance until late 2011 with an expected cost of around £24,000.
