Chevrolet Spark set to electrify audiences at Geneva Motor Show

Following its global premiere in Los Angeles last year, the Chevrolet Spark Electric Vehicle (EV) is to be presented to a European audience for the first time at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

American vehicle giant Chevrolet is hopeful that its new urban city electric car will set a new benchmark where the performance capabilities of these types of motors are concerned.

On top of this, the Chevrolet Spark EV stands out for being fitted with the most advanced electric motor and battery system General Motors has ever assembled.

As such, the vehicle is able to boast up to 542Nm of torque, more than 130bhp and the ability to go from 0-62mph in under 8.5 seconds.

What's more, the Chevrolet Spark EV's lithium-ion battery system can recharge to 80 per cent of its capacity from empty in approximately 20 minutes.

Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe, pointed out: "The Spark EV is a fun-to-drive zero-emission city car with intelligent connectivity. We believe it will resonate particularly in some of Europe's most technologically advanced markets."

The Chevrolet Spark EV will be shown off at this year's Geneva Motor Show in March, before being released onto select European markets in 2014.
