BMW 5 Series brings new changes in 2013

BMW is set to launch an enhanced version of its 5 Series range, with a new engine, a selection of product enhancements and a more fuel-efficient build.

The latest version of the 5 Series is the most successful in the model’s 41-year history, and to maintain this excellent performance, the German manufacturer really had to deliver with its innovations and modifications.

BMW has expanded the range of ConnectedDrive technologies to ensure that the latest model is the safest, best connected and most convenient ride for both the driver and passengers alike.

The BMW Emergency Call is now available to all 5 Series customers. This uses a built-in BMW SIM card to contact the emergency services if the car is in an accident. Drivers can alternatively request assistance by manually triggering the eCall button. These features are active for the entire lifetime of the vehicle and come at no extra cost.

BMW’s Professional Media Package has been enhanced to use the full range of BMW Apps and Real Time Traffic Information, while the iDrive Touch controller allows motorists to enter addresses and telephone numbers, and the Route-ahead Assistant keeps an eye on the road conditions on the route ahead.

A number of optional safety features are also available with the 5 Series, including a Driving Assistant with cameras to reduce the likelihood of collisions whether travelling at high or low speed. This includes a warning when drivers drift out of their lane, pedestrian recognition and front-end collision warnings.

The sporting characteristics of the 5 Series have been enhanced to ensure the models have a sharper edge thanks to restructured lower air intakes and additional contour lines. Meanwhile, all models will feature Xenon headlights and with Adaptive LED lights optional.

Those looking to enhance their 5 Series’ sporting credentials can get the M Sport Plus package, which adds 19-inch M Sport alloy wheels, sun protection glass and Harman/kardon loudspeaker system.

All petrol versions of the 5 Series will now meet EU6 regulations for fuel efficiency, while the 2.0-litre diesel engine has low CO2 emissions of 119g/km.
