The Audi A5 has been updated to try and keep up with some of its closet German rivals, Ingolstadt has overhauled and the A5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet and A5 Sportback models. One of the first things you notice is that the A5 has been fitted with the new Audi grille which was first seen on the A7. New narrower headlamps have been fitted and feature new daytime running lights while at the rear revised LED light clusters have been fitted.
Its not just the exterior of the car that has been changed, Audi has also made changes under the bonnet too. The 1.8 litre TFSI has been tuned to produce 168bhp, while the top of the range S5 Coupes 4.2-litre V8 engine has been replaced for the more eco friendly but more powerful 3.0 litre V6 TFSI engine. Meanwhile the diesel range starts off with a frugal 2.0 litre TDI that produces 175bhp and 60mpg while only producing 122g/km of Co2. This will join three V6 diesels, one of these will be a super efficient engine that will meet the strict Euro 6 emission targets that will be introduced after September of this year. The other two diesels will be 3.0 litre engines that will be tuned differently offering either 201bhp or 242bhp.
Inside the new Audi A5 the tweaks are more subtle, but one of the biggest changes has to be to the Audi Sportback which now has the option of a more practical five seat arrangement. The rest of the range will get an updated version of Audis MMI infotainment system, a new steering wheel and Audis automatic gear selector system. Audi received some criticism about the handling of the old A5, so Audi have made some changes to the set up of the A5 chassis, focusing in particular on the rear suspension and dampers. The Audi A5 Steering has also been tinkered with to improve the feedback from the road to the driver through the electric power steering system.
You wont have to wait long for the new Audi A5 as it will be available to order in September and the first deliveries will be taken before the end of 2011. Audi Leasing at Lease-Cars-Direct.co.uk
