Alfa Romeo Giulietta have released a new twin-clutch TCT gearbox to increase speed and efficiency.
The device is available with either 1.4-litre turbo petrol or 2.0-litre diesel engines, both producing 170bhp. It has been redeveloped since its release with the Mito, claiming to better the Guilietta's economy, refinement and pace.
With the lever in the Drive option, the transmission feels similar to a full automatic, at high revs its holds onto gears while under braking it downshifts with ease.
The wheel mounted paddles allow you to take full control of the vehicle, shifting quickly and accurately. Alfa Romeo have also included an automatic option which removes the jerkiness which twin-clutch gearboxes under acceleration are known for.
The TCT is devised for stop-start, assisting the 2.0-litre JTDm diesel to reach a combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg. Although acceleration is obviously stronger in the diesel model, the petrol has quicker 0-62mph, aswell as costing more to run.
